Many social media users have started reacting to a new clip showing the late Herbert Wigwe's 20-bedroom Lagos home, worth ₦30 billion, that recently leaked online.
Recall that Herbert Wigwe, the former CEO of Access Bank, tragically died in a helicopter crash on February 9, 2024, in California, USA.
The crash occurred near Boulder City, Nevada, while he was traveling with his wife, Chizoba Wigwe, their son, and Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX). Unfortunately, none of the passengers survived.
Recently, Herbert Wigwe's 90-year-old father has taken his 26-year-old granddaughter to court over a property dispute, a development that has left many tongues wagging online.
The leaked aerial view clip of Herbert Wigwe's ₦30 billion newly built Ikoyi mansion was a three-minute tour showcasing the outside and inside of the 20-bedroom Lagos property.
Herbert Wigwe's Ikoyi mansion sits on 23,000 square meters of land, the same land mass as the Ikeja City Mall.
When was Herbert Wigwe's mansion built? According to reports from Craneburg, the engineering firm responsible for constructing the mansion, the project took 22 months to complete.
Herbert Wigwe reportedly moved in late last year, planning for it to be his retirement home, alongside his other luxury properties across Lagos.
Popular Twitter real estate commentator Oke Umurhohwo, also known as Oke Stalyf, estimated that such an infrastructure would cost no less than $15 to $20 million.
According to Oke Stalyf's estimation, the mansion’s cost in naira would be approximately ₦10.33 billion.

πΉgehbahbuma: Only wicked people die with their family. Helicopter or foot. Judgment is here now.
πΉekene2507: Omor, big things do this man oo… Just imagine… Chaii, gone and gone without saying bye to all these… God abeg ooo.
πΉimokeubi: Now that he is dead π, I will not pay that loan again π€π€. May his soul rest in peace.
πΉamawuamawu: Vanity upon vanity, all is vanity. I hate human insatiable quest and greed for vain things. How much did he give back to society? The last time I checked, nothing to show for his investment in human capital development and humanity. A Blackman mentality is really poor and black. I don’t envy his lifestyle but detest how humans don’t think about life after death. May his soul rest in peace, though!
πΉrotimi_joseph_56w: ALWAYS REMEMBER THE LAW OF SOWING AND REAPING ✍️✍️✍️✍️. VANITY UPON VANITY, ALL IS VANITY ππππππΉπΉ.
πΉjujonsjyannick: Now Wigwe cannot take this beautiful mansion wherever he is now. Vanity!! Lesson to be learned, my people… Rather, learn to help the less privileged and the needy in Nigeria π³π¬ π.
πΉnathcallistafoodhoneyandoil: He is just like the rich fool in the Bible who built such edifices for himself and said to himself, "Now everything is ready, all I need is to eat, drink, swim, gym, see the sea from either of the luxury bedrooms," thinking only about himself. The same things were said about him, "Oh foolish man, you will not live long in this luxury mansion." Let us learn from this: nothing we bring into this world, and nothing shall we take from it. Your life will be demanded of you, and the mansion won’t be able to save you or be big enough to hide you from death. When you are rich towards yourself and yourself alone, you are poor towards God.
πΉeniola_aworinde: I just wish these so-called big men in Nigeria would allow us to breathe. This money they stole from us would have been better if it was invested back into Nigeria. Vanity upon vanity, he's no more to enjoy what he robbed us of π’.
πΉSuraj Imam: Such is life. He built the house after retirement to enjoy it, not knowing he wasn’t the one to enjoy the mansion.
πΉDanlami Isaac Garba: Let them turn it into motels…
πΉangel_baxmaich: His village people traveled to meet him in the USA for a meeting, and this is the result. Rest on in Paradise, boss of bosses.
