On Monday, April 7, 2025, governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner paid a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his Kaduna residence. This high-profile delegation, led by Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, underscores the party's emphasis on unity and continuity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking after the closed-door meeting, Uzodinma, who chairs the APC Governors' Forum, highlighted that the APC continues to grow as the largest political party in Nigeria. He credited Buhari’s foundational leadership for building a cohesive structure that allowed the party to retain power post-2023.
"We visited to show respect and appreciation to our father, former President Buhari. He remains a guiding light to the APC," Uzodinma noted.
The meeting came after the Ramadan and Easter celebrations, marking a symbolic gesture of reconciliation and solidarity within the party.
Buhari: A Father Figure in APC Politics
Governor Uba Sani, who hosted the event, praised Buhari for his enduring influence, not just in political circles but among ordinary citizens.
“Buhari remains a statesman who commands respect across political divides,” Sani said.
He added that many citizens, beyond politicians, regularly visit Buhari in Kaduna, showing the former president’s enduring popularity and moral authority.
