Nollywood Actor Backtracks After Viral Complaint
Nollywood actor and comedian Ijoba Lande, whose real name is Kehinde Ganiyu, has issued a public apology to award-winning actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele. This comes shortly after he publicly called her out for allegedly paying him ₦90,000 for a movie role filmed at Amen Estate.
His complaint, shared in a now-viral video, drew mixed reactions from both fans and fellow industry colleagues, with some criticizing him for tarnishing the image of one of Nollywood's most respected filmmakers.
Emotional Retraction: “I Don’t Want to Go to Prison”
In a surprising turn of events, Ijoba Lande released another video less than 24 hours later, retracting his earlier claims and issuing a heartfelt apology. In the video, he is seen prostrating flat in front of the camera, emotionally pleading with the public to help him beg Funke Akindele.
He clarified that his words had been taken out of context, claiming the video was edited maliciously to paint him in a bad light. According to Lande, he initially mentioned ₦190,000, not ₦90,000, and emphasized that Funke Akindele had done nothing wrong.
Fears of Legal Consequences
The actor expressed deep regret for the situation, noting that he feared potential legal consequences if the matter wasn’t resolved quickly. “If Funke Akindele decides to sue me, I’m finished,” he said, calling on Nigerians to intercede on his behalf.
Previous Collaboration with Funke Akindele
Ijoba Lande also revealed that he previously worked with Funke Akindele in her 2018 TV series "My Siblings and I", where he played the role of a gateman. He stressed that he harbored no ill feelings toward her and reiterated his apology, asking for forgiveness and peace.
